Third Annual Audrey-Beth Fitch
Women's Studies Conference

Morgan Hall Auditorium

This conference series was born from the inspiration and diligent work of Dr. Fitch, a woman who studied history, taught about history, and made history at Cal U.  The intent of this conference is to provide a forum to present, analyze, and discuss issues that are important to women, gender equity, diversity and social justice.

This year's theme, "The Other Side of Beauty: Impact on a Woman's Sense of Self," has inspired submissions from scholars across the country.  The selected papers present a dynamic and diverse group of interpretations that reveal the depth and breadth of analysis constantly emerging in an interdisciplinary field such as women's studies.

The Third Annual Audrey-Beth Fitch Conference is possible thanks to the ongoing support of Cal U's President Angelo Armenti, Jr., as well as a Social Equity Grant awarded by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.  We extend our sincere appreciation for this conference support.

Now it is time for all of us to consider the opinions and research presented by the five panels; the words and analysis of our keynote speaker, Dr. Linda Hall; the images at the art exhibition and poetry slam; and the lively discussion anticipated among attendees and presenters.  It is our hope that the full day will inspire knowledge and reflection about each individual's--and our collective--sense of self.  Thank you for participating.

This event is sponsored by the Office of the President, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, Women’s Studies Program, History and Political Science, and Justice, Law and Society departments. For more information, contact Cindy Wilkinson, 724-938-4054 or wil6959@cup.edu.
