Why should you invest your time in the workshops?

  • The 7 Habits public programs cost more than $1,500. Cal U offers the program free to all students and employees.
  • It looks great on a resume! The “7 Habits” workshop is a world-renowned leadership development program that is offered by, and sometimes required at, many corporations.
  • The workshop promotes personal development. It will challenge the way you look at the world and will help you build personal and interpersonal effectiveness.

By living the 7 Habits, you can:

  • Take control of your life
  • Improve relationships with your friends, family, and co-workers
  • Make smarter decisions
  • Define your values and what matters most to you
  • Learn to schedule your priorities instead of prioritizing your schedule
  • Increase your self-confidence
  • Find balance in your life

The Seven Habits Overview

The first three habits are called the Private Victories. They begin with you, and allow you to work on your character, motives, and paradigms (beliefs).

Stephen R. Covey lecturing at California University of Pennsylvania's Steele HallHabit 1: Be Proactive
The Habit of Personal Choice
“Learn to take responsibility for your life.”

Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind
The Habit of Personal Leadership
“Define your mission and goals in life.”

Habit 3: Put First Things First
The Habit of Personal Management
“Prioritize and do the most important things first.”

The next three habits make up the Public Victories. As we practice these habits, we become better equipped to build effective relationships.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win
The Habit of Interpersonal Leadership
“Have an everyone-can-win attitude.”

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
The Habit of Empathic Communication
“Listen to people sincerely.”

Habit 6: Synergize
The Habit of Creative Cooperation
“Work together to achieve more.”

The seventh habit is a daily process of renewing the four dimensions of our nature: physical, mental, spiritual, and social/emotional. This daily Private Victory is a victory over self. Not only does the daily Private Victory stimulate growth, but it also helps us achieve the Public Victory.

Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw
The Habit of Renewal
'Regular renewal of our body (physical), mind (mental), and spirit (social and emotional) helps us to maintain balance and accomplish our goals.'

The skills and principles taught during this workshop focus on both personal and interpersonal leadership issues.  In order to change the results you are getting now, you need to do different things, not just continue to do the same things in a different way.  This intensive 28-hour workshop will help you see yourself and others differently.  It can be a catalyst for long-term change, not just a motivational quick fix.
