60+ CAP (College Advantage Program)

"Without a moment's hesitation I would recommend going back to college, at any stage of your life.  I returned 39 years after graduation from high school, never having attended college before.  I was rather reluctant and feared all sorts of problems:  Not being able to do the work, feeling totally out of place, etc. etc.  All my worries were unfounded.  It has turned out to be one of the greatest decisions of my life.  Approaching college as an older adult puts it into an entirely new perspective.  The courses are incredibly interesting, the professors are more than helpful, and the students themselves ... age makes no difference.  I have learned that we are all there at the same level, taking the same classes and having the same experiences.  I wouldn't trade it for anything."    Joe Smith-Current 60+CAP student

What is CAP?

The College Advantage Program enables adults ages 60 and older, who are Pennsylvania residents, to take college courses tuition free. This program offers you an inexpensive way to take classes for personal enrichment or to actively pursue a degree. You may elect to take a class and receive a grade or you may want to audit a course. If you decide to audit a class, you will not receive a grade or credit for the course. The course will be listed on your transcript without affecting your quality point average. Once you register to audit a course, it cannot be converted to a credit course.

Are there any costs?

You are required to pay the university activity fees, application fee ($25), and are responsible for the purchase of books and educational materials for your courses.

How do I qualify for the program?

To qualify for the 60+ CAP program you need to:

  1. Complete an application form for admission to the university and a CAP application.
  2. Submit the completed applications with a $25 nonrefundable fee and a copy of your drivers license or birth certificate, as proof of age, to:
