Department of Psychology Research

In addition to classroom teaching, some faculty members have ongoing individual and collaborative research projects in areas such as depression and suicide in children and adolescents, learning and memory, empathy, and assessment.  Other research/scholarly activities may consist of performing classroom experiments, conducting observational studies in the field, writing journal articles, books, and research grants, and speaking at professional conferences.

As students advance through the program, they will have an opportunity to take special course or senior thesis options that allow in-depth work in particular areas of psychology.  They will be able to work closely with faculty on research projects and present their results at regional and national conferences.

Research in the Department of Psychology at California University of Pennsylvania not only adds to the students knowledge base and addresses societal issues, but it also fosters enthusiasm and effectiveness in the classroom.
