Professor and Chairperson Ronald Hoy

Dr. Ronald Hoy is Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. His primary research interests are in Metaphysics, Philosophy of Science, and Modern Philosophy. Away from school, he enjoys trout fishing, bonsai cultivation, and photography.

Associate Professor Nancy Hudson

Dr. Nancy Hudson has been an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at California University of Pennsylvania since Fall 2004. She has a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion from Yale University, an M. Phil. From Yale University, an M.A. from Yale University, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Wheaton College. She was also a fellow at Princeton University in 2003-2004. Her primary research interests include the work of Nicholas of Cusa, Philosophy of Religion, and Ethics. Her non-philosophical interests include kayaking and environmentalism.

Assistant Professor Craig Fox
Dr. Craig Fox has been an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at California University of Pennsylvania since Fall 2006. He has a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an M.A. in Philosophy from Tufts University, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Boston University. His primary research interests include the work of Ludwig Wittgenstein, the History of Twentieth-Century Analytic Philosophy (Frege to Quine), and the Philosophy of Logic & Math. He whiles away free time by enjoying (good) music, baseball, and culinary adventures.

Assistant Professor Joel Press
Dr. Joel Press has been an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at California University of Pennsylvania since Fall 2006. He has a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Arizona, and an M.A. in Philosophy and B.A. in English Literature from Arizona State University. His primary research interests include the Philosophy of Science (especially the Philosophy of Biology and Cognitive Science) and the Philosophy of Mind. When not engaged in Philosophy, he enjoys hiking in the mountains, deserts, and canyons of his native Arizona.
