Distance or web-based learning plays a major role in the journey to upward mobility and affords unique opportunities to students too often forgotten by institutions of higher learning. California University of Pennsylvania is intent on serving a new generation of student learners in the virtual classroom where accessibility is no longer an issue; where time, job and family demands can be accommodated; and where a world of learning can be tackled at a pace slightly different from the traditional classroom environment.
A community of students and scholar/ faculty will work online and function as a group of interactive peers. This virtual community - known as a cohort - creates lively, dynamic educational experience that enriches the collaborative skills essential in the contemporary workplace. The courses will be asynchronous; therefore the student will not need to be on their computer at the same time as the instructor or other students.
