Online Orientation Computer Requirements

At minimum, you need a phone line, a computer and an Internet service provider.  Although a computer modem will suffice, it is suggested that a cable modem or DSL line be used to access courses from home.  Many employers already have high speed connections (T-1, cable modem, ISDN, or DSL).

Minimum System Requirements

In order to make the most of your online learning experience, there are several technical requirements you will need to fullfill. Refer to the guidelines below to help ensure your online success:

Microsoft Windows

  • Windows 2000 or XP
  • 64mb RAM
  • 56k dial up internet connection or higher (preferred)
  • Working soundcard and speakers/headphones
  • One of the following browsers with Java enabled: Internet Exporer 6 or 7, Netscape Communicator 7.1, FireFox 1 or 2.

Macintosh

  • MacOS 9.1 or OS X
  • 64mb RAM
  • 56k dial up internet connection or higher (preferred)
  • Working soundcard and speakers/headphones
  • One of the following browsers with Java enabled: Netscape Communiator 6.2 or 7.1, Safari 1.2 or 2.0, FireFox 1 or 2.

Software requirements include a web browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox, etc.).  Additionally, your computer needs to be capable of streaming video & audio.
