SCHOLARSHIPS
California University of Pennsylvania offers academically talented and creatively gifted students a variety of University and Endowed Scholarship opportunities. Each scholarship has special selection and awarding criteria, which was agreed upon by the University and the scholarship donor (if applicable). In order to streamline the selection process, California University does not use a scholarship application, unless indicated. All accepted students and currently enrolled students are considered for all possible University scholarships. However, selected applicants for some of the scholarship awards may be required to complete additional information for final determination of the award.

The following list of scholarships are to be awarded to students that are going to be specifically majoring in programs that are housed in the College of Education and Human Services.
Fred and Katy Adams Scholars Fund
This annual scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Education with an outstanding academic record. Preference will be given to students with a demonstrated financial need. No application is necessary, however if the student would like to submit an essay, it is certainly welcome. This scholarship is awarded by the Financial Aid Office.
Athletic Training Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman majoring in Athletic Training. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with an SAT score of 1100 or better. If there are no students that meet this specification, it can be awarded to one whose qualifications are closest to a 3.5 GPA and/or 1100 SAT. Preference will be given to students who have a demonstrated financial need.
Lillian Bassi Scholarship
This non-renewable scholarship is awarded by the Elementary Education Department to three academically talented women who are junior education majors. The criteria for this scholarship is the the candidate must be of junior status (60-90 credits), admitted to teacher education, and a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0. There is no formal application needed. Please contact the Elementary Education Department for more information.
John Bitonti Memorial Award
Consideration for this award will be given to all full-time, first year freshman students enrolled in the Speech Pathology & Audiology Program who have achieved outstanding academic records, a minimum of 1000 on the SAT and who have been ranked in the top 10% of their high school graduating class. Interested students should contact the Communication Disorders department.
Ruth F. Freeman & Clara O. Freeman Scholarship
Scholarship will be awarded annually to incoming freshman enrolling in the School of Education. To be awarded this scholarship you must have at least a 3.0 high school GPA and 1000 or above SAT Score, preference will be given to those students who have demonstrated financial need. Blanche Rebecca Heath Elementary Education Scholarship
This renewable scholarship is for incoming freshmen majoring in Elementary Education or with a dual major in Elementary/Special Education or Elementary/Early Childhood Education. To be awarded this scholarship you must have at least a 3.0 high school GPA and 1000 SAT Score, preference will be given to those students who have demonstrated financial need. This scholarship will be renewed as long as the student maintains good academic standing of a 3.0 or higher.
Delila C. Jenkins Scholarship
This renewable scholarship is awarded to freshmen Education majors demonstrating financial need. The scholarship value is up to full tuition for an academic year. Each recipient must mainstain satisfactory academic progress in order to continue receiving the award.
Gary and Midge Kennedy Scholarship
Scholarships awarded annually to juniors enrolled in the Elementary Education Department. Qualified students will have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Scholarships should be awarded to members of the men's or wormen's track, cross country or basketball teams.
Donald Maley Technology Education Scholarship
This annual scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman majoring in Technology Education. Selection is based on scholastic achievement and financial need. Deadline for submission is June 1. Download an application.
John C. McCrory Memorial Technology Education Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to juniors majoring in Technology Education at California University of Pennsylvania. Qualified students must have distinguished themselves with a GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to a student who has a demonstrated financial need to continue their education at California University. Interested students should submit a 500-word essay by May 1 to the Financial Aid Office describing their volunteerism in Community Service Activities with emphasis on being a Volunteer Fire Fighter.
Walter J. Radishek Outstanding Future Teacher Scholarship
This scholarship will be given to an outstanding scholastic Education major who has completed student teaching and will graduate in May of the current year. Each department will have the chance to nominate a deserving graduating student.
Rudez=Pezo Scholarship Fund
This annual scholarship is awarded to an academically talented and financially needy undergraduate. First preference will be given to students majoring in the College of Education and Human Services. All eligible students will be considered by Financial Aid.
Bernard J. and Marguerite S. Singer Technology Education Scholarship
Scholarships will be awarded annually to students enrolled in the Technology Education Department. Qualified students will have distinguished themselves as a member of a Technology Education Student Association Chapter during their high school years. Students must present a letter of recommendation from the advisory of their technology education club. Recipients must be a graduate of Canon MacMillan High School or Peters Township High School. If no one qualifies from either school, then the recipient can be from a Washington County high school. Preference will also be given to those who demonstrate financial need.
TEAP William J. Wilkinson Scholarship
This annual scholarship is given to incoming freshman majoring in Technology Education by the Technology Education Association of Pennsylvania. Selection is based on scholastic achievement and financial need. Deadline for submission is September 1. Download an application.
TED Faculty Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded annually to sophomore Technology Education majors at California University. Each scholarship recipient will be able to renew their scholarship for a maximum of three years, provided that they maintain the minimum requirements; must be enrolled in the Technology Education major, must maintain a 3.0 GPA, and must meet all of the criteria for approval of Admission to Teacher Education and a Recommendation for Student Teaching. Preference will be given to any student who has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to continue their education at the University. All eligible students will be considered by Financial Aid.
TSA Scholarship
This annual scholarship is given to incoming freshman majoring in Technology Education. Selection is based on TSA activities, scholastic achievement, and financial need. Deadline for submission is June 1. Download an application.
Allen Mary C. Sesler Welsh Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded annually to senior Education majors. The scholarship will be distributed to a student from the four education disciplines; Elementary, Special Education, Secondary, and Technology Education. To be considered for this scholarship you must have at least a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
