Career Objectives

The Sport Management major offers career-minded students the opportunity to gain a broad-based understanding of the major areas of Sport Management.  Graduates move on to challenging and exciting careers in academic settings, professional sports, sports and recreation facilities, as well as health, fitness, and sport clubs.

The Sport Management major is designed to prepare students to blend general management skills with the specific demands of managing sports organizations.  Sport Management majors acquire a strong foundation in management, finance, communication, ethics, and legal aspects of business. Specific courses in Sport Management provide students with an understanding of the role of sports in society, the role of management in sports, and the opportunity to apply their knowledge in sports-related organizations.  Students supplement classroom teaching with a variety of practical experiences through field trips and by working in Sport Management settings through completion of internship placement. Students in Sport Management gain both the knowledge and practical experiences necessary for their future success in a variety of sport management careers.
