Exercise Science and Health Promotion Online Program Administrator Quotes

CalU Administrator Testimonials

The following comments were voluntarily submitted from various administrators at California University (CalU).

"California University has launched a major initiative entitled “Cal U Global Online” (Cal U GO). The goal of Cal U GO is to provide high quality programs entirely over the Internet. Currently, students from around the state, country, and the world are enrolled in Web-based Cal U programs. These students inquire, apply, pay their deposit and tuition, and receive all of their instruction online. Our first online graduates finished their degrees in December 2004. Most received their diplomas by mail. A hearty group of graduates traveled great distances (in one case from England) to attend commencement, receive their diplomas in person, and to meet their professors and fellow students face-to-face for the first time. The Web-based graduate programs being offered are high-quality niche programs that can help students advance their careers, begin career transitions, or increase their depth and breadth of knowledge in their current fields. The undergraduate programs continue our tradition of educational excellence that began in 1852. For more than 150 years, California University has stood for quality and we are continuing that legacy."
Dr. Angelo Armenti, Jr.
President, California University of Pennsylvania

“NASM and the Exercise Science Program at Cal U are becoming a synergistic force in the professional world of fitness and wellness. NASM has a vision for raising the credential level for a whole profession through degree based higher education. Cal U with its 150+ year history of higher education is interested in delivering high quality academic programs via the web. That symbiosis creates the synergism.”
Dr. Tom Kinsey
Dean, Graduate Studies and Research

"Several students attended the Graduation ceremony with most enjoying their first visit to the California University campus. The bond formed between our students became quite evident before and during the graduation ceremony. The connection between the online students is stronger than I have seen in over 14 years as a college educator. The virtual community we strive for in our program is clearly created with students becoming an International Network of professionals and friends. All graduating students plan to continue their pursuit of continuing education offered by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, with several students continuing in our Post-Graduate Certificate programs".
Prof. Barry E. McGlumphy, MS, ATC
Graduate Program Director and Associate Professor

“I was very please to see the number of students from the Exercise Science Program who traveled great distances to attend commencement. As I met with the student and saw the close knit nature of that learning community, I realized that we were truly on the leading edge of a major development in higher education. I also realized that we were beginning to achieve President Armenti’s vision for high quality academic programs offered online to a geographic dispersed population.”
Dr. Tom Kinsey
Dean, Graduate Studies and Research

“You’re definitely doing something right if you have minimal attrition. The satisfaction level of the students has been excellent, which is especially gratifying since the students are respected professionals in their individual disciplines.”
Prof. Barry E. McGlumphy, MS, ATC
Graduate Program Director and Associate Professor
