Shelly Fetchen DiCesaro PhD, ATC, CSCS
Shelly DiCesaro is an instructor in the Department of Health Science and Sport Studies at California University as well as the certified athletic trainer for women’s basketball. Prior to coming to California, Dr. DiCesaro taught courses in the Exercise and Rehabilitation Science department at Slippery Rock University and was an assistant professor at the University of Akron.
Dr. DiCesaro is an alumna of the athletic training education program at California and received a Masters degree in clinical exercise physiology from The George Washington University. Recently, she received a doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh in exercise physiology with an emphasis in sports medicine.
Dr. DiCesaro’s research interests include pediatric sports medicine and gender differences in non –contact ACL injuries. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, American College of Sports Medicine and North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine. She has presented papers at regional, national and international conferences and worked as a certified athletic trainer at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Georgia. Additionally, she serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training and NATA home study courses and serves as the Chairperson for the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society Ethics Committee.
Dr. DiCesaro resides in North Fayette, with her husband Dr. Daniel DiCesaro, who is the founder of DiCesaro Spine and Sport in Moon Township and McMurray, their son Jackson and their yellow lab Nilla. In her spare time, Dr. DiCesaro enjoys reading, cooking and supporting Starbucks!
