Assistant Professor Jamie Weary Dr. Jamie Weary is the Head Athletic Trainer at California University of Pennsylvania and an Assistant Professor for the Department of Health Science and Sport Studies. Prior to becoming a member of the Vulcan staff, Dr. Weary operated the physical therapy clinic in Hamer Hall that serviced the California University students, staff, faculty and athletes. Jamie attended Slippery Rock University where she attained her certification in athletic training in1999 and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2002.
She began her career as an athletic trainer at Grove City High School (AAA), in Grove City, PA while completing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Upon graduation, she moved on to pursue a combined PT/ATC role at Westminster College (DIII) in New Wilmington, PA from 2002-2005. There she functioned as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist by initiating and operating a physical therapy clinic that serviced the campus community as well as working with all 18 varsity sports. Jamie has also had the unique opportunity of working with the Pittsburgh Steelers during training camp for the past two seasons.
Dr. Weary is a licensed physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and has been practicing since 2002 with her primary emphasis in sports medicine and outpatient orthopedics. She is a member of the NATA and APTA/Orthopedics and Sports Medicine sections.
Jamie is a native of Fredonia, PA and is the daughter of Robert and Carol Weary. She has a younger sister, Kimberly, who recently received her PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh and a younger brother, Steven, who just graduated from Grove City College with a bachelor’s in business. Jamie currently resides in Brownsville, PA. She enjoys traveling, skiing, SCUBA diving, and the outdoors.
