Assistant Professor Amanda M. AllenAmanda M Allen, PhD, ATC
Dr. Amanda Allen is the Program Director of the undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program
(ATEP) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Science and Sport Studies at California University of Pennsylvania. She is in her first year at the helm of the undergraduate ATEP. Dr. Allen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ashland University and a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from California University of Pennsylvania. She earned a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ohio University in 2004. Dr. Allen is a BOC certified athletic trainer and member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Dr. Allen has been actively involved in athletic training since becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer in 1995. She has served in elected and appointed positions at the state and district levels. Dr. Allen served one term as the West Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association President and was active in initiating the state’s movement toward athletic training licensure. While in North Carolina, she was involved with the governmental relations and annual conference committees. She served as the District 3 Women in Athletic Training Committee North Carolina representative.
Dr. Allen’s primary research interests are various aspects of cognitive psychology as they relate to athletic training education, specifically educational feedback practices. Dr. Allen has had several published abstracts and research presentations.
Dr. Allen is a new resident of North Charleroi, Pennsylvania. She enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, quilting and gardening.
