Assistant Professor Ellen West
Ellen West is an Assistant Professor and serves as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Department of Health Science and Sport Studies at California University of Pennsylvania.
Ellen received her Bachelor of Science from California University of Pennsylvania in 1990 with a dual major in Athletic Training and Elementary Education. She earned a Master of Science in Physical Education / Athletic Training from West Virginia University and has continued her education at Penn State University in the areas of Chemical Dependency Counselor Education, Health and Adult Education.
Prior to coming to California, Ellen was an Assistant Professor and Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Department of Exercise Science and Athletics at Bloomsburg University (1992-2004). At Bloomsburg, she was active as an advisor for the undergraduate Exercise Science Major, the Student Athletic Training Club, the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, IMAGE (a sign-language performance group) and was on numerous department and university committees. Ellen has served as Head Athletic Trainer for two high schools locally, Bentworth and Carmichaels. For nine years, she has been an active instructor for the American Red Cross.
Professionally, Ellen holds membership in the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association (EATA), and the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society (PATS). She is a member of the Women in Athletic Training Committee (EATA) and has served as a member on the Board of Directors for PATS.
Ellen West is a native of North Huntingdon, PA and is married to Tom, an athletic trainer and fellow faculty member at Cal. They have two boys, Tucker and Sam. She enjoys exercising, scrapbooking, the outdoors and family time.
