Assistant Professor Jeff Hatton
Jeffery R. Hatton, MS, OTR
Jeffrey R. Hatton is a faculty member for the Exercise Science and Health Promotion Program. In addition to his duties as a faculty member, Jeff also serves at the Program Coordinator for the undergraduate program in Sport Management-Wellness and Fitness Track. Prior to holding this position, Jeff was the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and Interim Program Director for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program in the Department of Health Science and Sport Studies. Jeff has been a faculty member at California since the fall semester of 2001. Jeff holds an MS degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania. Jeff earned his undergraduate degree in Health and Physical Education at Lock Haven University, and went on to receive an additional undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy from College Misericordia. In addition, Jeff is a Performance Enhancement Specialist, certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
Jeff is a licensed and registered Occupational Therapist in Pennsylvania. Prior to his arrival at California, Jeff was the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Director at Clarion University's Venango Campus for five years. In addition, Jeff has worked in a number of clinical settings and coached football. Jeff's main interests in Occupational Therapy include geriatrics and dementia related disease.
Jeff is an active member of the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association, and the American Occupational Therapy Association. Jeff has presented at local, state, and national conferences in the field of occupational therapy and distance education. Jeff is also active at the university level, serving on several university committees, including the California University of Pennsylvania Forum’s Athletics and Communication committees, as well as the Health-Related committee, and the College of Education and Human Services Ethics committee.
Jeff lives in Mount Lebanon Pennsylvania with his wife Melissa and two children, Evan and Alexandra. In his free time, Jeff enjoys time with his family, basketball, running, cycling, and traveling.
