William B. Biddington, EdD, ATC

William Biddington is a Professor in the Department of Exercise Science and Sport Studies at California University of Pennsylvania.

He has been employed at California University since 1976 and was responsible for developing the accredited undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program in 1982 and the accredited Post-Professional Graduate Athletic Training Education Program in 1992.  He received his bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a minor in Athletic Training in 1975 and a master's degree in Physical Education in 1980 from West Virginia University.  Dr. Biddington earned a doctorate degree in Professional Physical Education with a minor in Higher Education Administration from West Virginia University in 1994.

Dr. Biddington has been veryactive in the profession of Athletic Training over the years.  He has served as a member on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society (PATS) and has served on various committees within the PATS organization; the Athletic Trainers' Advisory Board to the State Board of Physical Therapy, and the Graduate Education Committee with the NATA.  He has served as site visitor for the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) in reviewing Athletic Training Education Programs for over 10 years, a member of the Annaul Review Committee for CAATE accredited programs for two years, and as a reviewer for the Journal of Athletic Training.  Dr. Biddington currently serves as a Commissioner for CAATE starting in 2008.

Dr. Biddington is an active faculty member on campus, currently serving as chairperson of the University Curriculum Committee, a member of the Academic Affairs Council, and on the University Forum.  He also serves as the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for the university representing them on several NCAA issues.  He has been a member of the College of Education and Human Services Council, School of Graduate Studies and Research Council, and has previously served as Co-Chair of the Institutional Self Evaluation Committee for Educational Programs and Curriculum Development.  He has also served as the Chairperson for the Department of Health Science & Sport Studies for the past 20 years.

In 2006, Dr. Biddington was inducted into the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society Hall of Fame.

Dr. Biddington resides in Uniontown, Pennsylvania with his wife Carol.  He enjoys playing golf with his family, traveling, running, and attending numerous athletic events at California University.
