Communication Disorders Department Summer-Only Graduate Program

Summer-Only Graduate Speech Language Pathology Program

Description

A Summer Only cohort program is available for individuals who are employed in the field of Communication Disorders. The program, leading to a Master of Science in Communication Disorders, is  designed to be completed in five consecutive summers. This allows individuals to continue working at their current positions during the school year as they complete the program.

The master's program in speech-language pathology at California Uniiversity of PA is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.

The Summer Only program requirements are the same as those for the regular Master of Science in Communication Disorders program. The only difference is that all experiences are completed during consecutive summer terms. Summer Only students take the same courses and clinical experiences as students in the regular program for those times when they are on campus. Upon completion of the program, Summer-Only students are eligible to begin the Clinical Fellowship. Upon successful completion of the Clinical Fellowship, they will be eligible to apply for the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence and for state licensure as Speech Language Pathologists.

Because of the careful scheduling required to coordinate course and clinical offerings for both Summer-Only and regular-program students, Summer-Only students are accepted only at the beginning of the five-year cycle. Summer-Only students must attend each summer consecutively until completion.

The current Summer-Only cohort began classes in June, 2007.
