Master Sergeant Christopher S. Painter entered the service at Fort Benning, GA and completed Infantry OSUT with 1-38th Infantry regiment. His first duty assignment was with 5-20th IN, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea. While assigned he served as a rifleman, saw gunner and M60 gunner. Following Korea, MSG Painter was assigned to 2-7 Infantry Regiment at Fort Stewart, GA where he served as a rifleman, Bradley driver and a Bradley Gunner. He was also named the Battalion, Brigade and Division Soldier of the year. He was later named the Battalion, Brigade and Division runner-up Non-Comission Officer of the Year. Following Fort Stewart, MSG Painter was assigned back to Fort Benning, GA and served with the 1-30th Infantry Regiment on Kelly Hill. while assigned there he served as a Infantry Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, Company Master Gunner and Battalion Master Gunner. MSG Painter was then assigned to Drill Sergeant duty at Fort Benning with 2-58th Infantry Regiment. Following Fort Benning, MSG Painter was assigned to Fort Bragg, N.C. with 1-325 Airborne Infantry Regiment where he served as a Platoon sergeant and a First Sergeant. MSG Painter is currently assigned to Cadet Command, Eastern Region, 2nd BDE, University of Pittsburgh. He serves as the Battalion Senoir Military of Science Instructor and the MS III instructor at California University of PA.
MSG Painter has attended and completed the following schools: Ranger, Airborne, AirAssualt, Advanced Airborne School(Jumpmaster), Drll Sergeant, Master Gunner, Master Fitness, Primary Leadersip Development Course, Basic Non-Comission Officer course, Advanced Non-Comission Officers course and the First Sergeant Course.
MSG Painter's awards and decorations are as follows: Ranger Tab, SR Airborne wings, Combat Infantrymans Badge, Expert Infantrymans Badge, Air Assualt Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge and Polish Jump Wings. His decorations are 2x Bronze star, 2x Meritorious Service Medal, 5x Army Commendation medal, 8 Army Achievement medal, 5x Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Valorous Unit Citation, Expeditionary Service Medal w/Arrowhead Device, Global War on Terrorism medal and Southwest Asia Service medal.
MSG Painter is married to the former Michelle Miller of Columbia, SC and has 2 children, Brittany and Jacob.
