 Department of Earth Sciences Philosophy Statement

The Department of Earth Sciences is an integral agent of the College of Science and Technology, providing academic, advising, and consulting services to majors, non-majors, and community members.  The faculties are dedicated to the improvement of the human condition and to the advancement of knowledge.  This commitment manifests itself in several ways.  The Department offers undergraduate and graduate instruction in the earth sceinces, geography, and parks and recreation management to all able Pennsylvanians and others; it fosters and supports faculty and student research; it acquires grants; and it furthers the University's special and general missions.  The Department of Earth Sciences interaction with students manifests a commitment to the core values of California University of PA.  These values are integrity, civility, and responsiblilty.
