Faculty Computing Resources

Your university account will be your last name. In cases where two or more university staff and/or faculty have the same last name, it will be in the following format: LastName_firstinitial (smith_j)

bulletAn email account is provided for your use for instructional purposes.
 
bulletYou can access your e-mail on-campus by using Microsoft Office Outlook.
Please contact the helpdesk to get setup – it only takes a minute.
 
bulletYou can access your e-mail off-campus by using a web browser and connecting to: http://www.cup.edu/ithelpdesk/owamail.html.
 
bulletThe Web site, workforce.cup.edu is available for you to post your own web pages.
Microsoft Office FrontPage is provided on your office PC.
 
bulletA network drive (referred to as your N: drive) is available and recommended for you use. It is strongly recommend you use the network drive instead of the hard drive of the computer in your office.  The network drive is routinely backed up so it is less likely for you to loose data.
You can access your N: drive off-campus at: ftp://ndrives.cup.edu/
 
bulletThe Microsoft Office Suite of Programs is installed on your office PC along with the standard Adobe readers.
 
bulletIf you require any special software, for the classes you are teaching, to be installed on either your office machine or in the labs, contact the Computing Systems Help Desk:
 

bulletMake sure the software meets requirements for the hardware and will run in our environment.
 
bulletNumber of Licenses Required
 
bulletA minimum of 3 weeks notification is needed to install software (including plug-ins) in computer labs.
 
bulletBlackboard

A course shell is loaded into the Blackboard system for all sections offered at CalU. It is up to you to load course material and tests into this course shell if you are using online instruction in your class.  There is no need for you to manually manage your class rosters; Computing Services does this for you.
