Caps and Gowns
Cap and Gown:
Each participant must be attired in an academic robe and matching cap. An exception is made for students who chose to wear their military uniform.
Academic attire for undergraduate and graduate students can be purchased at the University Bookstore. The robe should be pressed. It is inappropriate to attach flowers, signs or messages on the gown or cap. The cap should be worn flat on the top of the head, with the top of the cap parallel to the floor. The tassel should hang on the right side of the cap at the start of the program
Honors/Honor Cords:
Honors are defined as: Cum Laude, 3.25 to 3.49; Magna Cum Laude, 3.50 to 3.74; and Summa Cum Laude, 3.75 to 4.00. In addition to the Cumulative GPA requirement of a 3.25 or higher, at least 60 or more credits must be obtained here at California University in a baccalaureate program only (not Associate) to be eligible for honors at graduation. Students who have questions regarding their eligibility should contact Academic Events Coordinator, Jodie Rooney, at rooney@cup.edu.
Honors cords can be obtained at the University Bookstore; there is no charge for honors cords.

Senior Salute Day: Please stop by the Bookstore on Monday, October 19, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for "Senior Salute Day." Join representatives from various campus departments along with representatives from Josten's, Balfour, and Framing Success. Announcements will be available at the Bookstore. All vendor representatives will be available on Monday, October 19, 2009 from 11:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. to discuss personalized graduation announcements (pricing will be mailed separtely).
Faculty Regalia: Faculty items will be available for rental and/or purchase for all faculty members; prices vary based on items ordered.
NOTE: The rental deadline for faculty regalia is Friday, December 4, 2009.
It is highly recommended that all graduating students and faculty purchase caps and gowns not later than Friday, December 4, 2009; after this date sizes are limited and it is too late to place special orders.
